Teach Meet
An opportunity for primary school teachers and arts co-ordinators to get together with practicing artists in an inspiring gallery setting.
Through practical activities and group discussions we will share creative ideas for the classroom and provide advice.
Sessions are free with plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits to keep us going but prior booking is required.

Art Co-ordinators Workshop in partnership with Calderdale Council
The Artworks will run a range of practical activities to inspire you with new ideas and techniques to enrich a creative curriculum!
You will explore how art-based activity can be used to support additional subjects, including Maths and Literacy, to make them really engaging for your pupils.
You will also receive written resources to take back to school and discover innovative ways of using materials you already have in school.

CPD - The Big Draw
The Big Draw is an annual, national event that celebrates the importance of drawing and of visual literacy. The theme for 2017 is 'Living Lines'!
This CPD session is packed full of fun drawing activities, that staff can take back to the classroom to inspire and motivate pupils to change the mindset of 'I cant draw' to 'I love drawing'.
Sessions start from £200 with 1, 1.5 and 2 hour sessions available.
Delivered at a time to suit, either at your own School or The Artworks.

- Artist Educators will inspire staff with new ideas and techniques to support a Big Draw event, Arts Week or simply to enhance a creative curriculum.
- Explore drawing as a fun process through a range of experimental activities that will take the fear out of drawing.

CPD
Develop the creative skills, techniques and confidence within School.
Sessions are delivered by practicing artists in School or at The Artworks.

Artist led sessions
Work with an artist educator for a half or full-day session. Teachers can choose from variety of creative activities which are all delivered by practicing artists. Students will be supported to develop their creative talents, develop new skills and techniques as well as their critical vocabulary.
Sessions will be adapted for your age group and children will all produce finished artwork.

Self guided visits
Lead your own visit around the gallery space. You are welcome to bring along sketchbooks and drawing materials.
We recommend that you purchase our Resource Pack, which contains lots of activity ideas and photocopiable resources that you can lead in the gallery.

Teachers resource pack
We have compiled a resource pack to support Primary teachers, suggesting ways in which the work of Quentin Blake can be used to support subjects across the curriculum, particularly Art and Design, Literacy, Drama and PHSCE.
It includes an overview of the exhibition, activity ideas, creative ways of engaging with work, developing critical vocabulary, stories and drawings in response to artwork, developing literacy ideas and photocopiable hand-outs that can be used either in the gallery or in the classroom, to explore the work through a variety of creative activities.

Introductory tour
In our introductory tour you will be greeted on arrival by one of our gallery staff and taken on a half hour tour of the exhibition. You will receive a complimentary copy of our Teachers' Resource pack which contains activity sheets and ideas for preparatory and follow-up activities back in school.
Morning or afternoon sessions are available up to 3 hours. We will supply art materials and paper, for pupils to create their own drawings. There is the option to eat packed lunches in the gallery.
