Painting Masterclass with Selma Makela
Friday 24th May 2019 | 10.00am till 3.00pm
Selma Makela will give a talk and presentation of her own working methods and techniques, and the themes that inform her practice.
Her paintings incorporate varied subject matter; large cosmic events, icebergs, fleeting moments, lone figures, journeys and weather to explore oblique connections to place and time. She employs these to consider the transitory and fleeting nature of a human timescale seen against the backdrop of a larger geological timeline, and consider a multilayering history of place.
This masterclass will explore different techniques and processes - demonstrating use of washes, colour theory and methods of overpainting in order to explore and create both depth and distance in painting.
All materials are included.
