These taster sessions are to provide an introduction to and opportunities to develop the skills and techniques of non toxic etching on metal. This will lead to the creation of a series of hand printed artworks.

  • 1st session - This session will provide you with an introduction to the technique of etching on metal using non toxic chemicals through clear, step-by-step instructions. The course will introduce the basic skills and methods of how to prepare and etch a metal plate and print onto paper using an etching press. As well as learning this new skill you will also explore the connection between art and etching so as to develop and inspire your own creative outcomes. 

  • 2nd session - This session will provide you with an introduction to the technique of etching using non toxic chemicals through clear, step-by-step instructions. The course will introduce the basic skills and methods of how to prepare and etch a metal plate print onto paper using an etching press. As well as learning this new skill you will also explore the connection between art and etching to develop and inspire your own creative outcomes. Students who have already done a taster session will be able to explore other mark making techniques and ways of using colour to enhance and develop their print making skills.

Asylum seeker - You will need to show proof of Asylum Support, and that you have been in the UK legally for six months or more, and that the Home Office is still considering your claim. You will need to show your Asylum Registration Card or equivalent.
