new public art commissions available

Everybody Arts are working with Calderdale Council’s Capital Regeneration team to develop new public art commissions for Art & About, a new arts and cultural trail for Halifax.

Poetry commission for Cockleshell Hero

We’d like to commission a new, unpublished poem to be featured on a piece of public art to be installed near Halifax Central Library. The poem will commemorate and celebrate the life of Marine David Moffatt who at the age of 22 died during Operation Frankton in 1942, a secret mission led by the British Navy to raid ships in the port of Bordeaux whilst France was occupied by the German Army. Learn more about the commission and how to apply here. The deadline for expressions of interest is 12pm May 1st 2024.

Sound Art Commission for Halifax Town Hall

We’d like to commission a site specific, sound based, public artwork to be installed in and around the Town Hall. The piece could take the form of a piece of music or ambient soundscape, and may incorporate found sounds or location-based recordings. Learn more about the commission and how to apply here. The deadline for expressions of interest is 12pm May 1st 2024.

New Creatives

Kick-start your career in the arts

We’ve created 4 paid traineeships available to artists in Calderdale right at the start of their creative career.

After delivering our first two successful traineeships we are now looking to recruit the next New Creatives to join our team.

We want to find people with a brilliant idea for a creative project who just need the time, space, support and funds to bring it to life.

Want to learn more? Read the guidance and follow this link to apply. The closing date for applications is Friday 3rd May at 5pm.

Volunteering at artworks

Everybody Arts is a dynamic environment where lots of different activities take place. We have a range of volunteering opportunities and ways that people can get involved across our projects, programmes and spaces. These include:

  • Learning Volunteers, supporting our courses, workshops and projects, particularly those aimed at young people.

  • Space Volunteers, helping us to look after our spaces, participating in clean up days and general maintenance tasks.

  • Gallery Volunteers, assisting with set-up and de-stall of exhibitions and/or invigilating our exhibitions.

We are always interested to hear of ways people would like to get involved- if you have other areas you are interested in, please let us know!

If you are interested in helping Artworks, please fill out the form below and a member of our team will get in touch.
